Tour the National Cryptologic Museum From Your Couch


Despite its fervent commitment to secrecy, the National Security Agency is the sole member of the American Intelligence Community with a public museum- the National Cryptologic Museum. Located on Fort Meade, it is free and opened to the public.  It even has a gift shop where anyone can purchase the latest NSA swag. 

For those of you unable to travel to Maryland or simply cannot get enough of the Museum’s cryptologic goodness, there is a cell phone tour accessible from the comfort of the nearest phone.  

If listened to in its entirety, the tour lasts almost two hours. As you can see below, the cell phone tour covers a variety of topics from cryptologic terms to the NSA’s relationship with private sector solutions providers. I have sampled the tour heavily and found that while the tour is best listened to in the presence of the exhibits they are related to, one can learn a great deal without having to be there.  Disjointedness is minimal.
